One thing turns "let me think about it" into "how many do you want me to buy?" Here's what I mean. Without a deadline, people say "I'll think about it," "I'll talk to my spouse," "I'll run it by my business partners" — and they never get back to you. But give that same person a real deadline? They get on the phone and say, "Hey, I've got an opportunity. How many tickets do you want me to buy?" Same person. Same offer. Completely different behavior. I saw this play out at Social Media Marketing World this year. We offered everyone on location extremely discounted tickets to come back next year — but only if they bought before midnight on the last day. That deadline forced a real decision. Was the experience good enough? Was the training worth it? Yes or no. Somewhere around 600 to 700 people said yes. Nothing forces a decision like a deadline. I've been using this since 2009, and it's running right now: this week, tickets to Social Media Marketing World and AI Business World are half off, and the sale ends Friday. So here's my question: Do you use deadlines in your marketing? Do your sales actually end? If they do, are they working?
