I didn't create a thing the other day. And it was one of my biggest breakthroughs in months. Every year we publish an industry report, and the ads inside it always follow the same routine: I write the copy, tweak last year's language, send it to my designer, then art direct the back-and-forth. The whole thing takes a week, sometimes a week and a half. This year, I asked my AI Business Society project to write the copy. It nailed it. Then I took it into Claude Design and said, "Create an ad for this report — give me lots of design variations." Four different looks came back. "I like this one. Not that one. Take a little from this, do this." Fifteen minutes later, I had a gorgeous ad, perfectly optimized. Then I asked it where to place the ad inside the report. It told me. Here's the shift: I'm moving away from being the guy who does the work and directs a human — and toward being the creative director who directs AI. And honestly? The process isn't just faster. It's more creative, because I'm using my higher-order skills of strategy and taste instead of slogging through the making. So here's my question: Are you skilled at something, and have you started art directing AI to do it? This is Mike Thoughts from the Porch.
