Last year, I seriously considered shutting Social Media Examiner down. I've never told anyone this publicly. But I had a narrative running in my head: "Nothing is working anymore. You've been at this 16 years. You're too old for this. It's time to call it quits." I was really close — multiple times — to shutting it all down. AI was zooming past. Everything was changing rapidly. And in my mind, I decided it wasn't going to work. But then I noticed other people were figuring out how to make it work. So I did some introspection and said, "Maybe I'm the problem." The moment I named the real issue — me and the way I was thinking — everything shifted. The fear of failure lifted, and I stepped into opportunity. Here's what I realized: experience can be a trap. When something works over and over, you build a rut for yourself. The walls of "what's always worked" only let you move in one direction. I had to break those walls down, get back to the beginner mindset I had when I started, and just start experimenting again.
