Would you ever build a house on a hill so steep that people call it impossible? There's a lot going on next to my house. It's one seriously steep hill. Some friends came over one night, saw the construction, and said, "Someone is building a house there? Are they crazy?" Then you look at the neighbor's house. Nice driveway. Big back on the house. They figured it out. And suddenly, what seemed unrealistic — even impossible — becomes possible. That's a great metaphor for those of us who are entrepreneurs or marketers. We look at our circumstances and say, "I can't work with that." But you can. You just need to reframe your thinking. Ask yourself: "What does this make possible? How would I approach something like this?" That's the growth mindset. Some people have it. Some people want it. I'm someone who's learning to get it. Here's what I'm discovering: my circumstances do not dictate my creativity. They don't restrict it. I just have to look through a different lens. So my question for you: What's your steep hill?
