They put hundreds of introverted bloggers inside a nightclub and called it "networking." Yeah, it really happened. I was there. I was at the largest blogging conference in the world, and things started off rough. No one guiding, no one pointing the way. Sessions running a half hour late. Panels where everybody just argued with each other. So I went to the networking party thinking, "Okay, this'll be the highlight." We get bused to this club. Huge dance floor. Music thumping so loud nobody could talk. And what did a room full of introverted bloggers do? Everyone pulled out their phones and started interacting on Twitter. I thought, "This is absolutely horrible." But here's the thing — that horrible experience became the blueprint. Every crazy thing that happened at that event became a roadmap of what I would never do. It inspired me to start my own conference: people connecting before the party, no panels, dedicated sessions, guides helping attendees every step of the way. That became Social Media Marketing World. So when you go through a really bad experience and think, "If I did this, I'd do it completely different" — start taking mental notes. That's a foundation you can build something spectacular on.
